Accounts upgraded to the new Submittable form engine may occasionally see a drop down toggle on a submission detail view labeled Form Version. It will only be visible on submissions received prior to the upgrade.
The presence of the toggle indicates that at some point the Form associated with that submission was edited. It could have been the Initial Form, a Review Form, or an Additional Form. Form Versions were introduced for upgraded accounts for the purposes of data integrity. The toggle provides a way for you to see both the Original version of the Form and the Current version.
The Original view will show you the submission prior to any changes that have been made to the form—in other words, you'll see the submission as it was originally received.
The Current view will show you the submission according to how the form currently exists, including any and all edits that have been made to the form's questions.
If you see "n/a" in the response areas in the Current version view, it means a change to that question was made at some point which rendered the original response invalid. You could have added a new question, changed an answer choice, changed the branching structure, or removed questions from your original form—any of which would impact the original response.
To see what the submission looked like as originally received, before the changes were made to the form, toggle back to the Original version.
Keep in mind, form versions are only available to submissions that have been upgraded, and will not be available for any submissions received post-upgrade.
Reviews and Form Versions
Reviewers cannot complete reviews in Original view when a submission has form versioning. The Current view reveals the review information and can then be completed.
Concealed Responses and Form Versions
There are a couple of nuances related to how Concealed Responses interacts with Form Versioning:
The new form engine introduced a new ability to Exclude Concealed Responses. When checked after your upgrade, only concealed questions and responses in your current view will be concealed. It is not possible to conceal the questions of concealed responses in your original view.
If, after your upgrade, you edit a form field to conceal a response on a form that had received submissions prior to your upgrade, please be aware that the original view will not conceal those responses. To avoid reviewers seeing responses you intended to conceal from them, be sure all appropriate questions are marked as concealed before your organization is upgraded. Otherwise, instruct your reviewers to refer only to the current view.
