Thinking about signing up for Submittable's Starter or Boost subscription plans? Here are some answers to frequently asked questions.
How do I sign up?
Select your plan and click “Try it free.” We'll ask you for billing and basic information to set up your organization account and a personal administrator account.
All literary journal plans include a 14 day trial during which will immediately be able to start setting up forms and accepting submissions. You will not be charged until the end of the trial.
How does the free 14 day trial work?
All literary journal plans include a 14 day free trial. Your card will not be charged until this trial is completed. You may cancel at any time before the trial is over and you will not be charged. If you do not cancel within the trial period, you will be charged for the plan you selected. To cancel your account contact firstname.lastname@example.org with “14 Day Trial and [Your Organization Name]” in the subject line, and include “I want to cancel my trial account,” in the body of the email.
When am I billed by Submittable?
Billing will begin on the day your 14 day trial ends. For example, if your trial ends on the 10th, you will be billed on the 10th of every month for monthly plans or on the same date the next year for annual plans.
CHOOSING YOUR PLAN
Do I count as a “literary journal?”
Your organization is eligible for the literary journal discount if you solicit and publish poetry, fiction, nonfiction, criticism, book reviews, author interviews and/or artwork in print or online publications with a literary focus. Organizations that don’t qualify include book publishers, agents, University presses, non-literary magazines, newspapers, media companies, advertising agencies, or any non-publishing industries.
What is the difference between Submittable Starter and Submittable Boost?
Submittable Boost includes more team seats, submissions per month, and form fields than Submittable Starter. Submittable Boost also includes several advanced features that Submittable Starter does not; see the chart above for details.
What is the difference between the annual and monthly plans?
You can select month-to-month or annual billing. Annual plans offer up to 12% savings and include more team seats and submissions per month than month-to-month versions of the same plans.
CHANGING YOUR PLAN
Can I upgrade from a monthly to an annual plan if I change my mind?
Yes! You can easily upgrade or downgrade your plan from within your Submittable account.
I’m not sure how many submissions I’ll need. What happens if I exceed my plan’s limit?
Submittable alerts you when your organization’s account approaches 80% of its submission capacity. If you’re approaching your submission limit, you can upgrade your account to a plan with a higher submission limit. If the Boost plan doesn’t meet your needs, contact email@example.com.
If you do exceed your submission limit, any open forms will automatically become inactive and be unavailable to submitters. The open forms will only go live again after you upgrade your account or on the first day of the next month, whichever comes first.
What if I only want to use Submittable for part of a year?
You can switch to an inactive plan for the time you will not be using Submittable.
The features I want aren’t offered in these plans. Can I create a custom plan?
Yes! Plans with advanced or custom features are available, but literary journal discounts can not be applied to custom plans. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org for pricing.
